Trainer Assessor Course Overview
To train the National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ), you will need to become a Pool Lifeguard Trainer Assessor.
The Trainer Assessor course is a week in duration and comprises of four modules:
The Trainer Assessor course varies in number of days depending on what specialism you choose. The course will comprise of four modules:

Train the Trainer (1 day)

Train the Assessor (1 day)
-
CPR and AED (1 day)
-
Qualification Specialism, which can be any of the following:
National Pool Lifeguard Qualification Trainer Assessor (2 days)
National Beach Lifeguard Qualification Trainer Assessor (3 days)
Open Water Lifeguard Qualification Trainer Assessor (1 day)
National Rescue Award for Swimming Teachers and Coaches Trainer Assessor (1 day)
First Aid Trainer Assessor (1 day)
ER Pool Trainer Assessor (1 day)
How to become a Trainer Assessor (TA)
As a minimum, you will need to be 18 years of age, be a member of the Royal Life Saving Society UK and hold a full National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ).
Trainer Assessor Course Booking and Charges
The fee per candidate varies depending on the course location and the training provider. Our research tells us that course fees vary between £400-£650.
As an individual booking a TA course please visit our interactive map, insert your postcode and pick a course that is nearest to you or most convenient for you, it's as simple as that.
Once you have found the course that you wish to join, you then simply need to follow the instructions on screen to contact the training provider that is organising the course. If you are having trouble booking on to a course in your area please contact us and we will do our best to source a course for you.
Trainer Assessor Probation Period
If successful on the course a candidate will leave as a Probationary RLSS UK National Pool Lifeguard Trainer Assessor.
The following will then apply:-

If successful the probationary period is a maximum of two years from course completion

Cards of authority will be issued when a completed LG9 is sent to RLSS UK Head Office, signed by an appropriate NTA or Mentor

Probation must be finished in the correct order as per flow chart
Cards of Authority
Cards of Authority are your physical proof of your qualification and your authority to train. Cards of Authority are distributed from the RLSS UK Head Office each year and are valid for a period of 12 months, from January to December.
In order to maintain the validity of your Card of Authority the following must remain current;

National Pool Lifeguard Qualification or Life Support 3
STA Trainer Examiner Conversion

As you are an STA TE you are given Approved Prior Learning (APL) for the first two days.
